SIM-SWAPS
Customers of T-Mobile and other cell phone providers have been having their identities stolen through what is known as a “SIM-SWAP”, whereby an unknown individual gains access to your cell phone service through bribes, deception, or utilizing known vulnerabilities of your cell phone provider and their customer service.
CRYPTO LOSSES
This unknown individual then uses your cell phone service to access your cryptocurrency wallets by requesting a password reset via text message, or otherwise utilizing a 2FA message to log in to your crypto exchanges. In only a few minutes, they will drain your crypto accounts, and attempt to make further purchases with any linked bank accounts.
